Extreme Caldecott Placement: 2019 Edition
Yesterday was a great day for celebrating children’s literature with the 2019 ALA Youth Media Award (#ALAYMA19)… which means today it is time for the main event: EXTREME CALDECOTT PLACEMENT (aka my only blogpost of the year).
For those of you who are new to this, the basic idea is: With such an incredible honor, why stop at placing the Caldecott medal on the book's cover? Why not go all in and insert the medal inside the book itself? (For those interested in checking out past years, here is exclusive access to the archives: 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015.)
First up, your distinguished 2019 Caldecott Honorees:
A BIG MOONCAKE FOR LITTLE STAR by Grace Lin
ALMA AND HOW SHE GOT HER NAME by Juana Martinez-Neal
THE ROUGH PATCH by Brian Lies
THANK YOU, OMU! by Oge Mora
and finally… the newly-minted 2-time Caldecott Medalist:
HELLO LIGHTHOUSE by Sophie Blackall
Congratulations to this year’s stellar Caldecott cohort! Til next year!
